Michigan Court response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Posted by Adam Alexander | Apr 04, 2020 | 0 Comments

If you have a pending civil or criminal case in Michigan, your case has likely been delayed. Most civil cases, including Lemon Law cases  currently filed in Michigan Courts have been delayed for at least 60 days.

In Oakland County Circuit Court:

Civil jury and bench trials are adjourned through April 10, 2020 or until further notice by the Court.

No in-person civil motion hearings will be conducted through April 10, 2020. Motions may be filed and heard via telephone at the discretion of the Court.

Case evaluation hearings scheduled through April 10, 2020 are adjourned until further notice by the Court.

In Wayne County Circuit Court:

Civil Court judges are working remotely.  There are no in-person hearings until further notice.

The Scheduling Order in every case is extended by 60 days from its current deadlines.

All Trials, bench and jury, currently scheduled through April 30 are adjourned without an order. New dates will be scheduled after the division resumes full operations but no less than 60 days from the current trial date.

New Cases

New civil cases are still being filed and the Alexander Law Firm has continued to file civil lawsuits electronically. There has been no disruption in commencement of litigation.
